Vlkolnec is a typical Central-Slovakian settlement with an architecture of wood that can be found in the mountain and foothill regions of the northern part of Central Slovakia. From the urbanistic point of view it is a large village with a single street and two rews of houses with long courtyards, arranged on both its sides. There is no precise data as to its origin. Vlkolnec was first mentioned in 1461. In 1977. Vlkolnec was proclaimed a protected area of folk architecture, and in December 1993, it was added to the List of the World’s Heritage of UNESCO, where only the most unique and universal cultural items appear that ought to be preserved for the whole of mankind.

Welcome to Philippines

Other places the group visited were Fish Creek, Sandy Point, Walkerville North, Cape Liptrap and Port Franklin. This area is so good and with its relative closeness to Melbourne there is a strong indication from the favourable comments by everyone to visit this area again next year, with the group booking the same lodge too, as it caters for the needs of the club very well.

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory, central Australia. It lies 335 km (208 mi) south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs; 450 km (280 mi) by road. Kata Tjuta and Uluru are the two major features of the Uluu-Kata Tjua National Park. Uluru is sacred to the Aagu, the Aboriginal people of the area. It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Uluru is listed as a World Heritage Site.

Uluru Sunset Viewing Area

The local Pitjantjatjara people call the landmark Uluu (Aboriginal pronunciation: [uluu]). This word has no further particular meaning in their language, also known as Pitjantjatjara, but it is also used as a local family name by the senior Traditional Owners of Uluru. On 19 July 1873, the surveyor William Gosse sighted the landmark and named it Ayers Rock in honour of the then Chief Secretary of South Australia, Sir Henry Ayers. Since then, both names have been used, although Ayers Rock was the name used by most people. In 1993, a dual naming policy was adopted that allowed official names that consist of both the traditional Aboriginal name and the English name.

On 15 December 1993, it was renamed “Ayers Rock / Uluru” and became the first officially dual-named feature in the Northern Territory. The order of the dual names was officially reversed to “Uluru / Ayers Rock” on 6 November 2002 following a request from the Regional Tourism Association in Alice Springs.

Uluru – Ayers Rock

Uluru is one of Australia’s most recognisable natural icons. The world-renowned sandstone formation stands 348 m (1,142 ft) high (863 m/2,831 ft above sea level) with most of its bulk below the ground, and measures 9.4 km (5.8 mi) in circumference. Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta have great cultural significance for the Aangu Traditional landowners, who led walking tours to inform visitors about the local flora and fauna, bush foods and the Aboriginal dreamtime stories of the area. Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour as the different light strikes it at different times of the day and year, with sunset a particularly remarkable sight when it briefly glows red. Although rainfall is uncommon in this semiarid area, during wet periods the rock acquires a silvery-grey colour, with streaks of black algae forming on the areas that serve as channels for water flow. Kata Tjuta, also called Mount Olga or The Olgas, is another rock formation about 25 km (16 mi) west of Uluru. Special viewing areas with road access and parking have been constructed to give tourists the best views of both sites at dawn and dusk.

Uluru is an inselberg, literally “island mountain”, an isolated remnant left after the slow erosion of an original mountain range. Uluru is also often referred to as a monolith, although this is a somewhat ambiguous term that is generally avoided by geologists.

Uluru, Southern Face

The remarkable feature of Uluru is its homogeneity and lack of jointing and parting at bedding surfaces, leading to the lack of development of scree slopes and soil. These characteristics led to its survival, while the surrounding rocks were eroded. For the purpose of mapping and describing the geological history of the area, geologists refer to the rock strata making up Uluru as the Mutitjulu Arkose, and it is one of many sedimentary formations filling the Amadeus Basin.

Zhouzhuang (Chinese: ; pinyin: Zhuzhung) is a town in Jiangsu province, China. It is located within Kunshan county-level city, 30 km southeast of Suzhou. Zhouzhuang is a popular tourist destination. It is one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses, the elegant watery views and the strong local colored traditions and customs. It has been called the “Venice of the East”

Zhouzhuang

The ancient town, which has a history of more than 900years old still keeps the intact, original ancient water villages style and pattern. The most famous attractions are Fuan Bridge, Double Bridge and the Hall of Shens Residence. Fuan Bridge is the only remaining three-dimensional building which made a connection between bridge and house.

Zhouzhuang

Zhouzhuang is surrounded and divided by lakes and rivers, 14 stone bridges cross the rivers, showing distinctive views of the water-town. Double Bridge connected by two bridges as a whole. Stone Bridge was built in Ming Dynasty. It is firm and simple, and composed by a stone arch bridge and a beam bridge. The Stone Bridge, likes a lock, tightly connects the north-south River and Silver Band River.

Zhouzhuang

The Hall of Shens Residence is Qing-style. The overall structure looks very rigorous and the parts of the hall have different scenery. In addition, there are Quanfu Temple (Buddhist) and Chengxu Temple (Taoist) and other religion sites. The whole town connected to the bridges and streets, all houses were built on the river.

Zhouzhuang

The boat gently rocking and green shadow whirling on the bank of river. When you visit it, you will feel you are in a picture. Overseas newspapers called Zhouzhuang as “China’s first water village”. Small bridge, Flowing water, people is the special characteristics of Zhouzhuang. Every family has its own pier in the water town.

Zhouzhuang

In the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-476 BC), Zhouzhuang Suzhou was a part of the fief Yaocheng and called Zhenfengli. After being donated to Full Fortune (Quanfu) Temple by Zhou Digong, a very devout Buddhist, in 1086 during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), Zhouzhuang got its present name as a memorial of the donor.

On the northern side of the castle Somoska you find the famous cataract of basalt, as the hot basalt got petrified in the form of arched columns. This kind of rare geological formation only exists on four places of the world. The narrow pentagonal and hexagonal columns were formed as the basalt got cool, and at certain points their height is not less than 9 m. A part of these rock formations were used for the construction of the castle, as well.

Trentino-Alto Adige/Sdtirol, is an autonomous region in Northern Italy. It consists of two provinces: Trento and Bolzano-Bozen. The region was part of Austria-Hungary and its predecessors, the Austrian Empire and the Holy Roman Empire from the 8th century until its annexation by Italy in 1919. In English, the region is also known as Trentino-South Tyrol or by its Italian name Trentino-Alto Adige.

The main language groups are Italian (about 60% of the total) and German speakers (a little under 35%), with a small minority speaking Ladin (5%).

Varese is a town and comune in north-western Lombardy, northern Italy, 55 km north of Milan.
It is the capital of the Province of Varese. The hinterland or urban part of the city is called Varesotto.
