9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong</p>
<p>On 29.09.2010 we arrived to Hong kong. Given the peculiarity of the city we have decided to temporarily discontinue our iPhone shooting &#8220;making of&#8221;, and use traditional still images. We&#8217;ll continue with our Hipstamatic shots when we reach Guilin, our next location.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8368.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1183 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8368-300x220.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="300" height="220" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a><br />
<a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8191.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1184 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8191-215x300.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="215" height="300" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>
<p>Hong Kong is a melting pot of oriental and western culture. Except for the cinese people all over the place it doesn&#8217;t seem to be in China anymore. The british influence is very strong, cars drive on the left, people wait in orderly queues to take bus or taxis, pedestrians are respected, kids wear stylish school uniforms, and locals have assimilated the typically cold Anglo-Saxon behaviour. Very different from the always curious and smiling chinese people.</p>
<p>Hon Kong is a city that stands out for its architecture and landscape. Small compared to other cities but very dense and concentrated. Public transportation are excellent although moving around the city is time consuming and tiring.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020187.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1185 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020187-225x300.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="225" height="300" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020180.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1186 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020180-225x300.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="225" height="300" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>
<p>To reach the district of Soho, you have to take an escalator (the longest in the world) 800 m. The district is one of the most exciting, full of ethnic restaurants featuring Spanish cuisine, Italian, Australian, etc.. Nice bars and markets selling fruits and various trinkets.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020175.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1187 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020175-225x300.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="225" height="300" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a><br />
Just outside the city center you can find rural and exotic areas.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020199.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1188 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020199-300x225.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="300" height="225" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a><br />
The large sitting Buddha can be reached by aerial tramway.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020188.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1189 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020188-300x225.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="300" height="225" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020191.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1190 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020191-225x300.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="225" height="300" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>

Tai o is a fishermen&#8217;s village built entirely on stilts.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020225.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1192 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/P1020225-300x225.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="300" height="225" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9043.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1193 alignnone" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9043-300x125.jpg" alt="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" width="300" height="125" title="9.29.2010 arrival at Hong Kong" /></a><br />
The main activity is fishing. The fish is dried in the sun and is is very popular with Chinese tourists. We have to admit that we didn&#8217;t like it.</p>

<p>Get an overview in the tourist location: Xin tian di, yu garden, Longhua temple, Jade buddah temple and the night of Nanjing road.</p>
<p>Shanghai is the most populous city in China and one of the most populous cities in the world. A global city, Shanghai exerts influence over global commerce, finance, culture, art, fashion, research and entertainment. </p>
<p>Xin Tian Di is a fashionable pedestrian street composed of Shikumen and modern architecture style.Shanghai Xin Tian Di is unique because of its concept of construction. It retains the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai.</p>
<p>Yu Garden, a classical garden in downtown Shanghai, boasts a history over 400 years. Each pavilion, hall, stone and stream in the garden is expressing the quintessence of South China landscape design from Ming and Qing Dynasty.</p>
<p>the Temple of the City God</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0019.jpg"><img title="IMG_0019" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0019-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Temple, taoist priest and computer</p>
<p>Long Hua Temple is the largest Buddhist Temple in Shanghai. It is said that it has a history of more than 1700 years. Most of its buildings, however, were built in Qing Dynasty a few hundred years ago.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00201.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1082" title="IMG_0020" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00201-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>

<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0028.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1084" title="IMG_0028" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0028-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Wishing band. with much wish</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0033.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1085" title="IMG_0033" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0033-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>incenses&#8230;.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00341.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1086" title="IMG_0034" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00341-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>sweet monk with camera&#8230;</p>
<p>In the western part of Shanghai, a very modern and flourishing city, there is a famous Buddhist temple, Jade Buddha Temple. In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty. Fortunately the jade Buddha statues were saved and a new temple was built on the present site in 1928.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00321.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1088" title="IMG_0032" src="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_00321-300x300.jpg" alt="9.15 9.22 Shanghai" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>The two precious jade Buddhist statues are not only rare cultural relics but also porcelain artworks. Both the Sitting Buddha and the Recumbent Buddha are carved with whole white jade.</p>
<p>Nanjing road is Shanghai&#8217;<a href="http://blog.arounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/IMG_0019.jpg"></a>s main shopping street.</p>
