Panoramic Photographer: Craig Wood
Craig Wood is an award winning professional commercial photographer, shooting internationally on location and specializing in people, adventure travel, panoramic landscapes and the environment.
Strong graphic style of composition, unique angles, dramatic lighting, and intense color are trademarks of his dramatic photography which have garnered awards from Natures Best, World in Focus, Great American Photography and Kodak.
His awareness in seeing the details and spontaneity allow him to work comfortably creating compelling photographic imagery in any location. Kayaking the Canadian wilderness, 2000 feet underground in Brazilian gold mines, and aerials for the National Park Service are just a few of the remote wilderness locations around the world his varied assignments have taken him.
Balancing dramatic lighting with subtle details, stunning portraits and vibrant landscapes allow him to consistently create dynamic images for corporate, editorial, fine art and stock clients worldwide. Merging his talents as a keyboard musician with an academic degree in Micro-Electrical Engineering proved rewarding. The creative improvisation of music, combined with technical know-how provided a unique harmonious blend in developing his portfolio. After winning the ‘Overall Best of Weekend’ award upon entering his first competition, he was invited back; and after winning other awards, was asked to teach with the Great American Photography workshops.
This teaching afforded him the opportunity to work directly along side great artists; including Galen Rowell, Bryan Peterson, John Shaw, Pat O’Hara and Art Wolfe.
During this time, he joined world renowned commercial photographer Bryan Peterson as his assistant, and his passion for photography changed forever. You can not ask for a better mentor! Traveling the globe and setting up commercial shoots, while working with clients, models, art directors and graphic designers perfected the business sense he upholds as a professional today.
For over 15 years Craig has worked as a professional commercial photographer. While much of his early work is based on Nikon film images, including Fuji 6×17cm and Hasselblad Xpan; in 2003 Craig made the switch and now produces a large portion of his work with high resolution Canon digital cameras.
Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, his award winning photographs, panoramic imagery and location assignment images continue to gain world wide recognition. A sampling of Craig’s clients include Audubon, Bancorp Bank, Coldwater Creek, National Park Service, Outside, (REI) Recreational Equipment, Scholastic, Stone Ward Agency, Sunset, and VISA.
A member of EP, PPA, IAPP; Craig maintains speaking schedules with various professional photographic clubs and organizations, while personally teaching workshops. An interest in the wonderful people of this world, their varied lifestyles, the incredible landscapes and the complexity of how we coexist within our natural environment continue to be guiding passions of my present day photography.
